d Small Small World

Date : 05/08/2009 | Category : Craft and Miniature

A year ago, while in Taiwan, me and my “miniature” craze sis stormed our way into d Taiwan miniature musuem! Both of us looked @ each other and said ” This is the musuem we were looking for !!! “ Sounded like 2 mad woman? Well, in fact, we 1st came to know about the musuem while watching a documentary on our pay tv. Since then, both of us were so keen to visit this musuem in Taiwan. And a year ago, we finally got our dream fullfilled!

The exhibition hall was about 1500sq ft, which is not very big compare to normal musuem .Bit dissappointed though….but! The exhibits sure didn’t disappoint!!

Let’s take a look now shall we ?

The miniature exhibition started off with an old England street. The street includes houses, grocery stores, coffee houses…etc, and the setup were all @ an earlier era. Say about 1950.

Please note though, the conversation is solely my personal add on  !! hehe

A couple’s house

DSC01913

Coffee house, with only 2 tables ?

DSC01918

An old lady standing besides the street carrying a basket?! I presume she’s selling fruits?

DSC01921

This is called the Rose Residence. If i’m not mistaken, this house is situated in England, and they did a miniature version on it, based on the real house.

Some sneak peak into the interior …

DSC01916

Dining area

DSC01919

Couldn’t get a clear picture on the whole interior, cos they only leave a tiny bit of the door opening! Anyway, we can see bedrooms, powder room, and a little bit of the living room!!

Here we have 2 ladies in the piano room!

DSC01915

and the following conversation is PG rated……..

DSC01914

As we leave the couple arguing their way for another zillion years…..we shall move on to the green house garden next door!!

DSC01924

I fell inlove with this green house flower garden instantly!!! Too bad i wasn’t able to take a clear pic of the fishes in the pond !!! This is the best i can do though….

DSC01923

The pond is in the middle of the flowers, and because the fishes were too small, couldn’t capture them with my lousy camera!! Sorry folks! But they are fake fishes so……hehe

Next we have a series of individual areas, like part of a house/shops. And they are being fixed onto the many display windows on a huge wall. Here are how some of them looks like,

DSC01926

A music lullaby? I was amazed by their detailing!

DSC01927

Love the kitchen!! Looking all so cozy!!

DSC01928

Another view of kitchen! Loving the tea table!! ( Sorry about the reflection on glass though! Can’t help it!)

DSC01930

What about this!! Super amazed by their detailing!!! I don’t see the difference between the real and fake, the only thing is it comes smaller in size. :)

DSC01933

A closer view!!! The work is done to it’s finest !! They are using velvet cover for the pillows and cushions!! Wow!!

DSC01936

Any idea where the opposite river is ?? It does look like Vienna to me though…

Moving onto individual buildings again…….

DSC01942

A grocery store!!! What’s interesting about it though, are the stuffs they sell inside!!

DSC01946

mmmmph…if that’s not enough, let’s have another closer view!! Zoom in!

DSC01943

Impressed ??

DSC01948

Straw roof house from old England!!

And then we have……

DSC01951

a boutique!! This has got to be one of my favourite miniature!! Look @ the dresses!!!

DSC01952

Wonder if the dresses can fit on my barbie dolls!! They are so beautiful and workmanship is great!!

DSC01953

I guess that’s obviously the lady boss……the Taukeneo! ( That’s what we call it here)

DSC01960

A tree house!! I definitely won’t mind having one of these in the backyard!!

DSC01963

Careful there now kid !!

Moving to the interior parts of the miniature world again….this time we have….

DSC01966

A Baby’s room!! This is a farely luxurious baby room don’t you think?? Lucky baby!!

DSC01967

A kid’s playroom?? Wtf ! really?? Why didn’t i have such a room when i was young?? awwww………

DSC01968

Look @ the bed!! I so want it !!!

DSC01990

Mr.Santa’s toy house!!!

DSC01975

Another interior of a house!!!

DSC01976

Why do i feel like im looking @ a real life scale house from this angle?

DSC01994

An oriental interior!!! ( Sorry about the reflection on glass again!!)

Next we arrived @ yet another street…….

DSC01998

It’s a busy looking street aye ?

DSC01999

Why do i feel like these people and animals are all real?? It’s not just a miniature, it’s a miniature with life? Should i put it that way?

Next, let’s travel east to Japan!!

DSC02003

TA DA!! A miniature of street of Japan!!

DSC02005

Small stalls selling Japanese food ! Ahhh….the cherry blossoms !

DSC02006

See what i meant by there’s life in these miniatures? From this angle it really does look like a beetle just turned into the lane!!

DSC02007

Another view of the street!!!

And that concludes our journey through the miniature world!!! Phew!! Such long post!!!

Anyway, tell me what you guys think !!

When fake isn’t exactly fake….

Date : 03/07/2009 | Category : Craft and Miniature

Just when i thought I’m sick and tired of writing everyday…….I’m suddenly in the mood of writing again!! Don’t ask me why, i guess i was just being paranoid ? Or was i merely just being a Gemini ? People say Gemini possess 2 very different characters. And I’m starting to feel the magic is working on me somehow. I can be a really sweet angel for a second, and the next, i can turn into a demon in the mist of breaking a toothpick. Now, are you loving this Gemini?? hehehe……

Anyway……let’s take the time machine and go back to the time when i was still in Singapore. This time, Singapore Changi Airport.

I was actually quiet surprised to know Seoul Airport has beaten Singapore Changi to be the best airport in the world!! Wow, never underestimate the power of KIMCHI! I mean to me Changi is like really the best airport that I’ve been to, second to that, in my opinion, i would say Schiphol of Amsterdam ? Haven’t been to Seoul for quiet sometime, so I’m not sure how fast and well developed they are now. But to be able to beat Changi?? Might be worth to pay a visit sometimes  soon.

Anyway, so what is so special in Changi that i need to blog about? Nope, it’s not the Terminal 3, actually to me i still prefer Changi Terminal 2. You know why? Because in Terminal 2, there’s Prada, Gucci, Mont Blanc, and my favourite perfume parlour!! I’m so obsessed with the perfume parlour to an extend i won’t buy any perfume downtown @ all!!  They have the widest range of perfumes and i just love to feel lost in there!! Hehehee….

So okay, back to what i’m suppose to be talking. I was @ Changi for my departure to Kuching early June, it was a Saturday afternoon. My sis made an effort to escort me to the airport and have a meal with me before i fly. We had normal Chinese food @ Crystal Jade. After that as i was just about to walk to the departure gate, my sis brought me to a newly open Japanese pasta restaurant called WARAKU PASTA (they have another outlet @ downtown Central shopping mall. ) to have a glance @ their many plates of fake pastas !! Like this!

dsc04213

Wah! They are all fake but they look so real!!!

dsc04214

See how real they are??

dsc04215

I can see a lobster from here!!

dsc04217

Look @ the pizzas!!! So real!!

dsc04218

Another view!!!

dsc042161

Fancy for  some desserts???

Think i definitely need some Jap food for the weekend!!

What are you having ?

Mini time!

Date : 15/04/2009 | Category : Craft and Miniature

Hello everyone!! how’s the Sun this morning? Did it give a big smile? or a big frown? I guess nobody will be able to tell!! haha….anyway…..There’s always the case where work gets too annoying and boring….your mind will eventually drifted to somewhere else…..correct???And currently i think my mind is fix on food….what food?? Spicy hot korean food!!! Omg!! I haven’t had Korean food for like i don’t know how many months!! And i just so want the Kimchi soup right now!!! Gimme a kimchi soup!!! Gimme!!!

When one door closes, the other one open…i guess in this case it’s refering to the korean style chicken soup!!! But it’s not Kimchi soup!!!arrrggghhhhh!
Here’s another view of the chicken soup, you can even see the wolfberries and the green onions in the soup!!
Yeap, simplilicously delicious!!

OOpssss…..take note of the bbq!! The bbq meat looks kinda tough, i think it’s overcooked!!

The best way to eat the bbq meat?? wrap it with fresh lettuce leaf together with some fresh garlic!! Just imagine!!!

Here’s another of my favourite Korean dish, stone rice & seafood pancake!! In this case i think the pancake is just a plain pancake!!! Look even the sauce looks so similar to the real ones!

Look @ the stone rice & the sauce!!

Another view!!
Kimchi!!!! On plain white rice!!!! Omg!
I’m not really sure what these are, i think it’s some kinda Korean sweets

A closer view of the sweets

Yes, the famous Korean chilli paste!!

These chilli paste are so great for cooking kimchi soup!!! All you need to do is, pan fry the beef/chicken together with some garlic & onions until golden brown, pour in chicken stock together with the chilli paste & some kimchi, shimmer for about 20 minutes and WALAH!! You have no idea how hungry i am right now!
This look like the cold entre dishes except restaurant over here don’t serve their cold dishes in such nice holder!
Another view
I mean these cold dishes could go well with a hot bowl of white rice!!!
This kinda settings always appear in Korean series, the so called ” roadside food”. I think the Koreans kinda like eating in places like this, especially during winter! You will see them drinking Kimchi soup together wif bbq meat and a glass of beer
!
Did you see the Korean kimbab?

Up to this point, i can feel my saliva is building inside my mouth…..i’ll update you if i cannot resist the temptation and go for Korean food for lunch!!! Teehee!

Great morning guys!!!!!

Happy joop joop Thursday!!

Now, onto the food itself….the fried food on the left sure looks delicious!!

SAN-WIC-CHI ( this is how the Jap pronounce it)

Hey!! we even have KFC bucket meal!!!

Errr….closer look, it might not be THAT KFC after all…

Ok now, onto some childhood titbits!!! Does anybody remember all these titbits?? Look @ their packaging!!!Ring any bell?? The T-shaped candy with perforated aluminium packaging?? Yes??

and these…..which i have no idea what is it too!!! Hahaha
Here is another view of the “dunno what is is, a, b,c”…..candies!!! Look @ their 60s/70s packaging!!!

Now, this……i really love the fine workmanship….eventhough i too have no idea what it is…i presumed it’s their own Jap childhood delicacies!!

Yes, the one on the far left, it’s bubblegum!!! remember the rectangular shaped bubblegums?? which were like 10cents each?? and look @ the detail of the glass container!!!
