Very “GAU”

Date : 16/07/2009 | Category : Gaudi

Anybody knows the meaning of  “GAU”? In Taiwanese language, Gau means  “very smart/very clever” . Normally people will say ” Lu Jio Gau eh”….”You are very smart”

And so today, I’m going to bring you guys 4 years back the memory lane……when i 1st saw the immeasurable work by Mr.Antonio Gaudi, who basically had greatly influenced on the outlook of Barcelona with his amazing works.

Gaudi, what a great name to start off with. His name must have meanings like super smart or some sort, because when i saw his work,  it was  so amazing that i basically ran out of words to describe.

For example,

The Casa Batllo, situated on La Pedrera,Barcelona

Amazing!!!! After 4 years, I’m still so attracted to this photo!!

Mr.Gaudi Antonio built 2 of these houses, the other one is located on Passeig de Gracia. Both serving as a home + apartments.  Most of his work involved curved structures, twisted irons & organic-like forms.  @ this moment, i was kinda glad i didn’t study architecture, because i don’t think i will be able to construct a building like this!!

That’s me 4 years ago!! Looking like an idiot tourist with a view cam hanging on me like that!!

Further down the road, that’s where the other building is situated, on Passeig de Gracia. Can you tell me how unique this building is ? The balustrade on the balcony really looks like some animal fossils! And if you notice the 1st floor, the facade of the balcony really looks like it’s been built with bones! The colour used makes me think of the ocean with all the marine lives in it!! Amazing work!!

Next, we were being brought to a wonderland park called, Park Guell.

Nothing in here is like an amusement park, but, the designer makes it feel exactly like one!  How? Like this!

The shape is so playful and the colour so vibrant!!

dsc02039

The entrance to the park.  For some reason, i really think there’s a kinda magical feel to this park. Is it because of the shape and the colourful tiles used?

dsc02043

Ceiling details on the entrance building. Beautiful! Cantik! Ipoh yoh!

dsc02053

Such a beautiful park, must pose pose a bit!! You know why i have the scarf  all over me like that? Because i don’t wanna get burnt under the hot sun, i think the temperature was around 45c!!

If I’ve not mistaken, one season of American Next Top model, took up the tunnel as a runway for their final show!!

And last but not least, we have the ?

La Sagrada Familia !!

dsc020092

A giant temple under construction since 1882, needs a period of 30-80 years to complete! When i was there, it was still under construction, and if memory serves me right, i was told they still need about 2 years to complete. So i guess it should be fully constructed by now!!! Time to go back and pay a visit??

dsc02000

Run out of words to describe how amazing this giant temple is!

dsc01998

The interior of the giant temple. Again, amazing!!

dsc02008

Can someone tell me how do they construct these details?

dsc02025

This is totally amazing to me. A must see if you were to go Barcelona!!! A truely magnificent building!!

Now that I’ve been fully inspired…………………….

Time to go back to my bloody work!!!

nice day everyone!!!
