See the news above? It has been the 2nd suspected case in Kuching in a month. What’s special about this particular one though, is the fact that before the news is out, i already knew about it.
Meaning?
The woman in the photo, happens to be my colleague’s aunty!!!! Now, that’s scary right?
The news broke out to me as well as my fellow colleagues around 2:30pm yesterday. I was having a discussion with my head, well not exactly my head but my head of department, my immediate boss when this colleague of mine, let’s name him DURIAN A came rushing towards us.
DURIAN A: ” Boss, i’m afraid i cannot follow you to the site visit trip tomorrow.”
Boss : ” Oh………” puzzled
Then DURIAN A continued……
DURIAN A: ” Because something happened in my family……….”
Me & Boss: ” ……………………………………..” Both puzzled.
DURIAN A ( with a pair of eyes that were about to pop out): ” My aunty came from US and now she has fever and my daughter is having fever as well!!!!”
I salute my boss for responding so naturally……
Boss:” Then you better go back now”
DURIAN A: ” Oh ok” ( rushed back to his room, which is also my room! and ran off as quickly as he can, a bit like when you sight a mouse in your kitchen, and when you were about to look closely to check if there’s a mouse or not, the mouse already dissappeared. Yeah, i should say it’s lightning fast!)
After learning the news, my boss & I sat there for almost 20 seconds without moving or say anything. Millions of things were running through my head. Excuse me, am i hearing correctly? We might contract the Swine flu ? ARE YOU KIDDING ME!!!
Alright that’s ok, as i cannot lost control infront of my head, i try to calm myself down….trying very hard….only to learn that my head has lost his sense as well. Because for the next 5 minutes or so, i don’t recalled him saying anything that make sense.
I remembered correctly it was 3:00pm when i got back to my seat, and everybody were in my room talking about this matter, why? how? what if? And @ that very moment, i was scared.
I couldn’t careless about my work anymore, all i could think of was, ” Should i go home?” The more people i’m in contact with, more people might get quaranteen and causing uneccessary havoc . In the end i decided to inform my parents and i was granted to go home ! Hohoho
I swear it was the most torturing 22 hours having to wait for the test result for DURIAN A’s aunty. Despite having to watch American idol to release a bit of tension ( hahaha) I was constantly being reminded of this scary matter. We never had such unity between colleagues until this thing broke out. Everyone was busy smsing each other, trying to find out the latest news and all the yadayadayulleeeeheee. Man, i was stressed! Can you imagine the situation? What if DURIAN A’s aunty test result show positive? I have to be quaranteen, and might already exposed to the virus ! And people will treat me like an ALIEN, they won’t want to get close to me right?? Trillion of things kept rolling in my head. And i pray & hope that this matter will be over soon!!
This am, with no mood to dress up for another working day. I arrived in the office. Everybody looked like it’s going to be the end of the world. We all sat there in silence. All the way up till 10:00am this morning, the phone rang
CENPEDAK A: ” MOI! WE ARE SAFE! TEST RESULT NEGATIVE! “
THANK GOD!!!!!
The ice around us starts to melt!!! and i couldn’t help but to take a picture like this!
Ofcourse i know i shouldn’t be too happy, but i guess i can only say i’m relieved for now!!!!
