Except it’s not the reality show hosted by Heidi Klum, it’s more like having to get onto the airplane RUNWAY to get to my project destination. In this case, it’s another state called Miri.
I was completely pissed by the fact that i had to go other states to supervise my work. I would wish for a project in town, which i could go supervise and have a look @ how my “baby” is tuning out whenever I’m free. And yes, i call every of my project my “baby”, simply because the whole process is just like giving birth to a baby! You sketch them to perfection, then 3d rendered them and mold them into what it will look like in reality, then you do the detail drawings as if how to construct them, and give it 2-3 months time — Walah!! The baby is born! And you know what, one of my restaurant project in town is gonna kick off really soon!! And I’m super excited about it, finally a project that’s so close to where i work ! Ha!
So coming back to my project “runway”……in order to see how my baby is turning out, i had to wake up @ 5:00am, rush the hell out of me to get to the airport @ about 6:00am to catch a 7:00am flight to Miri. I have to say, i wasn’t looking anywhere like myself, and i seriously don’t know what i was doing. I just know, i needed to rush to the airport that’s all.
But, being a woman, sometimes you just cannot throw the” what you wear”, “how you wanna look” kinda issue out the window no matter how shitty the day may be. And so, being so me, somehow i had to take a shot of what i wear whilst traveling, even to interstate ! Ha!

Yeap, no smile or anything! I was just pissed and tired !! hehe

I guess you can tell how pissed i was by looking @ my face in this photo!! Ha!
Yeap, so this is what i wore to my site inspection. A trusty white ankle boots, a very cute Marc By Marc Jacobs bag, shirt from local boutique paired with a black tight. Please excuse my puffy face, as you know when one didn’t get enough sleep ( especially me) my face will look puffier than normal days. Ha!
I didn’t wear a mask when i was on the plane, so yeah if i get H1N1 blame it on myself.

Took this photo wanted to show you guys how dark it is outside, but too bad in this case i think the reflection from the inside took over this photo.

On the plane almost reaching Miri! Yay!! Did you see the sea ?? I really envied a few cities/town in my state. Particularly Miri & Bintulu, their city has got the luxury of situating just next to the sea. Whereas ours, needs about 45minutes to reach one. Duh.
As soon as i landed, i was being greeted “warmly” by my contractor, a female ( whom I’ve argued with numerous time on the phone regarding this project.) Was kinda glad i finally get to “meet” her. When i 1st saw her, my chin almost hit the ground. Because all these while, i thought she’s a lady in her 20s, never have i thought that she’s already a woman in her 40s already! Yeah, so that’s shock no. 1.
Shock no.2 came after about 15 minutes of car ride from the airport to where my “baby” is. So what is shocking here? This new shopping complex that people have been bragging about ( including my boss and my client) , is nothing like what I’ve imagined. It was a complete letdown, and the shopping complex to me, is definitely over-rated. I was totally disappointed. I thought I’m designing for a shop that will be IN an up and coming, modern sleek shopping complex. But i think that’s not gonna happen now.
As soon as my “friendly” contractor brought me to where my baby is, i got my shock no. 3. No it wasn’t about the site being disastrous or anything, it’s actually how empty the shop is ! And i was expecting more than that @ this point of the project. All she showed me was, these….

Totally understood why they are still keeping this board with the most ugliest painting on top, with the soon before the opening. That’s because the contractor haven’t got the roller shutter for the shop yet ! FML
And then, she opened up the plywood door for me to go in…..and this is how my baby looks like @ the moment….

TA DA!! The floor tiles, paintings on the wall and ceiling are all done! Now, the only thing that’s missing, are the loose furniture.
Why blue?
That’s because my bloody client wants it blue. Simple as that, plus he’s trying to create a brand of his own, wanting to spread out his shop throughout the state, and i think to do that, having a consistent image of the shop is utterly important.
Since there are nothing much to see here….i try to take as many photos as i could from different angles, just so that my boss won’t say i wasn’t doing my job properly !
Have no idea how high is the ceiling ? Have a look @ this guy in the photo,

He’s shorter than me, about 160cm, and look @ where the ceiling is ! hehehe……( just so that you thought it’s just a small and dwarf-ty shop…hoho)

This glass entrance is where all the drama comes in later!!And i can’t wait !!
So after visiting my baby, my “warm& friendly” contractor brought me to have some breakfast, a horrid breakfast to be exact. The laksa was tasteless, even all the dim sum was horrible!! Now i started to feel how “friendly” is my contractor.
After the site visit, it’s time to visit the ” bits & pieces” of my baby. The loose furniture!

TA DA!! Couldn’t quiet figure out what this is?? Hehehe…….you will soon find out when it’s completed!!

See how ” hardworking” these people are ? trying to help me finish my work ?? Let’s hope it stays that way!
After the factory visit, my “friendly” contractor brought me to get some “Tau sa pia” = red bean paste pastry. OMG! It was so delicious!!! And i ended up buying like 60 pieces of them, each around Rm0.40 , and they comes in 3 flavors. The red bean paste, green bean paste and winter melon paste. They are all delicious!!

The small little yummy pastries!!! Yum yum ~~
Besides the yummy pastries, i also bought some peanut sweets, and it’s also very nice!!! By far the tastiest and freshness peanut sweet I’ve ever tasted!!

The tasty peanut sweet!!! Oh yummy yum!!
So yeah, that’s all i have for the Miri trip. I think my boss would want me to travel AGAIN in this coming week, so stay tuned folks!!!!
